kevadväsimus
jancain: wordjournal: noun • spring fatigue that sets in when the sun has come out, yet it still feels like winter. (Estonian) It is the yearning for sunlight and all of the earthly pleasures that you know must be right around the corner coupled with the grim knowledge that nature will find a way to delay your satisfaction for as long as possible. (via Itching for Eestimaa)

teklink 5DmkII review -Nick Devlin →
a wonderfully written review of canons 5DII. Included as much for the elegant writing style and some thoughtful ideas about the state of the technology  as anything. (non gear obsessed people will perhaps be challenged though)

Just so you know.....
the next 2 months I will try using autoposts while I am away in Bhutan for 5 weeks. In my tests it usually worked. I will post two series on alternative weeks ‘Land’ and ‘Elemental’ and so that ‘changes are rung’ weekends will be different again. If it doesnt work now you will know why.  I will be away from the web and probably wont be able to fix it if it does...

REFLECTION on Presence & Portraiture
My friend, Debbie asked about my process with portraits after following the images in the LTS blog. This has helped me start to conceptualize the idea that I am drawn to people who communicate what I am calling Presence and so I engage them and then go on to take the photo when I  see them ‘present’. On reflection I think that when I am engaged with their presence they recognize that...

PTP two quotes from john Camps blog today (my emphasis) “Generally, if you’re not compelled to do a particular form of art, you won’t be all that good at it. And people who collect visual art work will see that; people who listen to music will hear it. Serious art collectors are like serious baseball fans—they might not be able to do it themselves, but they have keen eyes and ears for...

Compelling and comprehensive multimedia, well worth exploring at length. We are introduced to 4 slums and then in turn to 4 households who are invited to talk. You won’t regret following the link above. (make sure you look around the homes…) “In 2005, I started work on The Places We Live, a project about urban poverty and slums. For three years, I visited dozens of families in...

Featured today in the blog Prison Photography is a powerful group of images of prisons at night accompanied by a thoughtful interview (link above). Thank you to Jim Johnston whose blog Politics Theory & Photography featured this today. Links to both blogs are in the list at the side of this blog.
