Hunan 03 This fish has seen better days but I liked the juxtaposition and in the process became a source of kind hearted amusement to the workers caring for the temple where I found and ‘caught’ it.

Hunan 02 I wandered into a small community centre where locals were playing mahjong on terrific automated tables where the pieces disappeared down a central hole at the end of a game and re-emerged all neat and tidy in rows in front of each player ready for the next game. (kind of like a pub/bar room pool table)

Hunan 01 The beginning of a new series captured in Hunan, China, where I have been for the last couple of weeks. The first week’s images are from on of the so called ‘ancient towns’ renovated to fill the needs of the many, many local tourists. They can be a bit ‘disney-fied’ but people still live in them and a trip down a side street is usually rewarding.

Guj 10 This very old lady was keen to be photographed. (Her grandson said she was 100) I love how she almost disappears into the wall of her home.
By the time you see this I will be in china. I will take a break in the Guj series now as I haven’t had time to work on my images and will pick the series up again when I get back home to Perth (with some festival images).

Guj 06 Off to school, Ahmedabad, India. When I posted this on G+ recently someone from the town itself suggested it was the school uniform of the St.Xaviers’ high school. Isn’t the internet wonderful!

Guj 05 an aerial image of sorts from Harinder in Gujarat India taken from my hotel looking down after hearing the hubbub of morning school kids on the street below.

Guj 04 we met a bus load of pilgrims at an important temple who welcomed having pictures taken. This is taken as one extended family look out of the windows of their splendid two layer bus. A sort of double decker within a single decker of sleeper compartments like a train carriage say.
