teklink we will have to wait for the reviews to see he how it performs but as a (sub) cultural marker alone Canons new G11 which has actually reduced the pixel count from 14.7 MP to 10.00 MP may mark the end of the pixel wars and the start a  ’focus’ on  image quality. The problem has been that as you cram pixels on a small physical sensor size noise goes up (especially at higher iso) and ‘look’ can go down. This camera also apparently has an articulating LCD meaning you can swivel the screen for low or high shots. If salespeople can manage to tell the story of the benefits of quality over pixels this will be an interesting development. My wife has learned to love her G9 & G10  which as others have stated can produce images that can’t be separated from fancy top end reflex cameras (at standard print size and without prime lens effects). I’ve often envied her flexibility as I cart around my 10 kilos of gear (as well as her eye for a great image).
I will pass on links to proper reviews when they come out.

About

A photography blog by Robert van Koesveld around learning to see as a photographer: with my own images and process as well as whatever I think inspires, informs, extends or challenges in the struggle to learn to see. There are two supplementary blogs; LTS2 for photography and LTS3 for other Art. The links are at the top above this. They are a place to display others work that I find inspirational and that I want to refer back to. Comments are welcome use 'click to comment' or email me here:
