Musing about this works power the ‘chiaroscuro’ style could have reduced people to cyphers, as can happen in some black and white work, but instead the colour communicates so much about the particular person themselves The mystery of the image says something about the complexity of the individual and their situation.There is a sense of the photographer seeing the other and honouring them here.
