One of the strong exhibits in fotofreo is the Narelle Autio work ‘The Summer of Us’. Her floor talk is available as audio here. Another solid showing is David Dare Parker’s ‘The Clubs’ a very accessible study of the workers clubs of Fremantle. A review is here

Possibly less accessible is Philip Blenkinsop’s ‘East Timor’ together with a group exhibition “Growing Pains” also focused on East Timor. I like the way the multiple points of views give a richer sense of East Timor. Blenkinsop’s work is powerful and “Using his trademark blood smearings and hand written notations, these photographic journals almost exist as sculpture and are a world apart from the press coverage offered elsewhere in this show”.  The full review and audio by Philip is here.
