Land 02 near Yangshou China
we were cycling with farmer tan, an enthusiastic and caring man, who had taught himself english as a boy by hanging out with climbers drawn to the district in the 80’s. We came up close to a funeral procession which intrigued us but concerned farmer tan on our behalf. So he helped us protect our selves from the risk of bad luck. This scene from that spot  seems to me to to carry a sense of mortality and grace. There is a link to a picture of farmer tan, his family and their party leader portraits.
