Mali 05 This ends this little series of images taken in Mali in 2005 that I have reprocessed. Maybe I will work on images from the Festival au Desert near Timbuktu  which inspired that trip when I get home. I am in Hong Kong leaving shortly for China I will try and post some HK images if I can get them processed. series link

Mali 02 One of those images you have to take. Something about how photography take the ordinary and delights in it. Thanks to this unknown man who chose that moment to walk in that light (making that shadow) in that street to make this moment. I can smile now about a second in 2005. series link

Mali 01 Beginning a short new series from Mali. I have been looking back (and reprocessing) some images from Mali made in 2005. Its unsettling in some ways. I remember what a fantastic place it is and think how lucky I am to have been there. I think of the current troubles there. I remember the ‘dust season’ which is when it is easier to travel really rather than the wet season. I also realise my own limitations and the number of images I would like to reshoot as well as the limitations of the 20D and the lenses I took. Hopefully I have come along a bit and the gear sure has. I do like the mood of this image. It is a mud mosque alongside the Niger river upstream from Mopti. The day was particularly dusty and the sun was always strained through the dust like a yellow wash. The smoke is from fires along the beach made to dry little, very boney, fish. also experimenting with posting by email….. series link
